History of the Old Corner Bookstore Building
Built in 1718, the “Old Corner Bookstore” buildings are historically significant locally for their architectural style as the only 18th century houses remaining in downtown Boston. These buildings also have national significance for their literary history as the 19th century home of Ticknor and Fields Publishing House and the first home of the Atlantic Monthly magazine.
